He's Gone > Truckin' > The Other One > Eyes of the World > China Doll is pretty epic stuff

Good call. Very nice Gone> Truckin’ transition here. Truckin’ jam is pretty rockin, but the heart of this is a very nice Phil-led jam before Phil and Billy. A classic ’73 jam sequence.

Super listen. Nice Phil, great TOO, Eyes, China Doll ... LiA says in his essay it was the third Eyes; I didn’t realize Eyes was that exploratory right from the start. One of the first China Dolls, too.

Both the first Eyes and China Doll were only 10 days earlier:

Haven’t heard it, but that show apparently also has the first HCS, Loose Lucy, TLEO and Row Jimmy. HCS must have been great from the start, cuz on that nice little quilt-piece of 2/19, I'm pretty sure I heard at least two people calling for it already!

nice!...this is one of my favorite partials ever.

the He's Gone is incredible, just a fantastic, bluesy outro jam from Garcia. The Other One and Eyes are absolute beasts too.

love me some feb. '73...

edit- i just noticed listening again that the band seems to have some trouble getting Truckin' started. not the smoothest transition i guess. but not much of a complaint, this is still a great one!

Wonderful playing indeed. I still dream of the day when we'll see the rest of this 'Nudie Suit Special' emerge from the realm of lost and missing tapes. They've got to be out there somewhere, hopefully it's only a short matter of time.
